Most people come to therapy when they are struggling with something or need help making a positive change in their lives. But therapy works best when it builds on the strengths that people already have. I see my clients as the experts on their own experiences.
My role as a therapist is to use my knowledge and experience to help my clients through the stuck places so they can live clearer, more confident, more meaningful lives. My approach to therapy is warm, down-to-earth, and practical. I bring an open, curious, and nonjudgmental attitude to my work with my clients and to the challenges they are facing.
In the process, I am ever-mindful of the impact of intersecting sources of oppression and trauma on people of color, poor people, people with disabilities, and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) people, among others. I am committed to social justice and have deep roots in LGBTQ communities in particular.
