Transgender, genderqueer, non-binary, gender nonconforming, and gender-questioning people come to therapy looking for a variety of things, which may include:
- A place to explore their genders and the impact that being trans or gender nonconforming has on their relationships, careers, and lives.
- The chance to focus on other issues in therapy without having to waste time educating their therapist about their gender identity.
- Help and support during the process of transition, whatever that means to them.
- Letters needed for various aspects of their transitions.
I am passionate about working with and supporting clients in all of these situations. I use an informed consent model with trans and gender nonconforming clients who are seeking transition support. My own trans/genderqueer identity offers me insights and perspective that inform my work. It is part of the reason I have such deep empathy for my clients of all genders.
